More About Geri
What does a holistic lifestyle look like?
To me, it is more than just eating healthy; it’s about aligning yourself and bringing balance to all areas of your life: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
The mind, body and soul are interconnected, so what you do to one part, ultimately affects the rest.

I have also been a Reiki Master since 2013 and offer in clinic sessions, distance, or mobile reiki treatments.

This is why I strongly believe taking care of the emotional part (through reiki and other healing modalities) will then in turn bring physical healing. Something that is also very important to me is making sure you have the right tools and techniques for stress management. Research shows more and more the connection between gut health and stress (manage your stress and your gut will love you).

It also has to to do with being educated with your health, knowing how your body works, and how it has the ability to both heal and rejuvenate itself. I also believe we need to be educated to make the best choices, and eat clean good quality food that is going to nourish you from the inside out! This is where I can help you.
One thing I am also really passionate about is supporting local (small mom & pop shops). Being mindful and conscious of where you shop helps you know where your food is coming from (local, organic, fresh, nutrient dense), and you also get to build community and a sense of connectedness.

My Story
My health journey began at age 12 when I was hospitalized with symptoms I had been having for months on end (bloating, stomach pains, crampiness, constant trips to the bathroom and major gut inflammation).
I was so sick and weak that at one point I could barely eat. After being hospitalized for about a month (which I almost died), the Doctors ran several tests, and I was finally diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis (UC).
Fast forward to my late teens early 20s, I was in and out of the hospital with severe flare-ups. I realized at one point that I didn’t want to live in pain and being in and out of the hospital anymore. I started doing my own research on the root cause of UC, that it eventually led me to see a Naturopathic Dr who changed my life forever
At this point I was also dealing with leaky gut and nutrient malabsorption. I remember seeing the Naturopath and as we sat in his office, he also talked to me about looking at my emotions and dealing with past trauma as part of the physical and emotional healing process. In my mid 30s, it all started to unfold and come together, the dots were starting to connect. It started with 4 years of doing hatha yoga, which then led me to guided meditation, which then lead me to Reiki. I became a Reiki Master and took my master level at Mount Royal University in 2013. It then led me to Holistic Nutrition.
In between the yoga, meditation and Reiki, I was doing the inner healing work on myself. I started delving deep into my emotions and past childhood trauma, and somewhere along the way, as this healing was happening my UC was getting better and better. I have been meditating daily since 2011, and I have been in remission and medication free for over 15 years!
Today I am healthy, and most importantly, I am medication free.
